Do you know what the leading cause of death is worldwide? It is neither car accidents nor plane crashes. Rather, it is cardiovascular disease. South Asians, including Pakistanis, are genetically more likely to develop heart disease at a younger age than other ethnic groups, according to The Aga Khan University Hospital (Pakistan). Hence, prevention and early detection efforts are especially crucial in Pakistan.
Our Partnership with Humanity Initiative
Rehmat-O-Noor has partnered up with Humanity Initiative, a non-profit organization made up of medical students and healthcare professionals conducting educational and medical camps across Pakistan, in order to boost prevention and early detection efforts for various types of disease.
Humanity Initiative has been providing physical check-ups to those who cannot afford regular doctor visits in their camps. They screen patients for medical issues, and if further treatment is needed, refer the patients to us for treatment sponsorship. This seamless referral pipeline ensures that no one falls through the cracks — from detection to treatment.
Our wonderful intern, Baneen Fatima, who is passionate about making cardiovascular treatment accessible for all, organized three bake sales during her school play and raised $253.00 for Rehmat-O-Noor to cover cardiovascular treatment for those in need.
Why Treatment Cannot Wait
The prevention and early detection efforts Humanity Initiative is undertaking are significant, but do not mean much without successive treatment — and that is where Rehmat-O-Noor comes in. Our partnership will bring in individuals requiring cardiovascular treatment, and Rehmat-O-Noor needs your help in ensuring each of these individuals is cared for so that life-threatening complications, like heart attacks or heart failure, are prevented.
Early treatment will not only save future pain, but also reduce treatment costs in the long-term. The economics of prevention are clear: a dollar spent today saves many more tomorrow — and more importantly, saves lives.
How You Can Help
We ask that you donate so that we can sponsor heart medication and other heart treatment for those who cannot afford it. Most importantly, ensure that you exercise regularly and incorporate heart-healthy foods — like olive oil, tomatoes, and berries — into your diet. Change starts with you.
